Emergency Demo: Defend Migrants, Defend Free Movement

04/09/2019 @ 18:00 pm - 20:00 pm

Hosted by Labour Campaign for Free Movement and Another Europe Is Possible

The UK Government has announced its intention to scrap freedom of movement immediately from 1 November in the event of a no deal Brexit. This would be the biggest expansion of borders in generations.

The Government’s plans will make EU nationals in the UK subject to the hostile environment whilst also taking away the rights of UK citizens living in Europe. The legal status of millions of people would change overnight, placing some of the most vulnerable migrants in danger of deportation.

Now is the time for us to organise and resist the Tories’ callous attempts to take away our collective rights.

A system of free movement is the best way to protect and advance the interests of all workers: it means people have the right to work legally, join a union and stand up to their bosses without fear of deportation or destitution.

We must defend free movement and we must extend it too, to include all those facing the brutality of the current UK border regime. We must also organise to dismantle Fortress Europe and create a society of solidarity and dignity, not violent borders.

Join us on 4 September. Stand up for migrants, stand up for your rights, stand up for free movement.
